Shows & loans

Two collection tools for when your items leave the shelf: Shows builds an exhibition list you can use with no signal, and Lending keeps track of anything you have lent to someone. Both live under Collection, whose sub-navigation runs Collection, Lending, Shows, Import. The Lending tab carries a badge with the number of items currently out, which turns to a warning tone if any of them are overdue.

:::info They appear once you have something to use them on Lending shows up in the sub-navigation once you hold at least 3 items, and Shows once you hold at least 5. Either also appears the moment you have a loan or a show of your own, whatever your item count. Once a tab has appeared it never goes away again, even if you return your last loan. Both pages work by their own address at any time. :::

Shows: an exhibition list that works offline​

Heading to a meet, a retro fair or a show? A show is a list of items you curate from your collection, ordered how you want them, that keeps working with no signal.

  1. Open Shows and choose New show. Give it a name, and a description if it helps.
  2. Add items from your collection.
  3. Move items up and down with the arrows beside each row until the order is right.
  4. On the day, use the list in the field.

Choose Present to open exhibit mode: a full-screen view that cycles through the list one item at a time, photo alongside its details. It carries whatever the item has (model number, region, format, whether a game is complete in box, its grade) and moves on by itself, with play and pause and manual next and previous. It keeps the screen awake while it runs, and Escape or the close button exits.

Everything about a show can be edited offline. A banner tells you what state you are in: offline with edits held on the device, or back online and syncing. Your changes are replayed once you reconnect. Adding, removing, reordering and deleting all work this way.

Shows are private to you. There is no public page for a show.

Lending: track what you have lent out​

Lending records the items you have lent to friends, another collector or an exhibition. Each loan records:

  • The item from your collection.
  • The borrower's name: free text, so they do not need an account.
  • When it went out, and optionally when it is due back.
  • Any notes you want to keep against it.

You can filter loans by status:

  • All: everything you have ever logged.
  • Active: out on loan and not yet due back.
  • Overdue: past its return date and not yet back.
  • Returned: closed off and home again.

The app works status out from the dates; you never set it by hand. A loan is Returned as soon as you mark it back, Overdue if its due date has passed and it has not come back, and Active otherwise. A loan with no due date never becomes overdue.

When an item comes back, mark the loan Returned to move it out of your active list and keep the record for later.
